In the search to find a superintendent, the North Beach School District is seeking community input.
The district released a survey Tuesday via Facebook, prompting students, parents, district staff and community members to share what they think makes for an effective superintendent.
“The Board is seeking stakeholder feedback regarding what people see as the strengths of the district, challenges to be addressed, and leadership characteristics/skills important for effectiveness as our next Superintendent,” the post reads.
The survey, which is managed by Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, a firm helping with the superintendent search, can be accessed through a link in the district’s Facebook post. The survey contains four open-ended questions that inquire about the strengths and weaknesses of the district, the ideal professional skills of a superintendent, as well as potential candidates for the role.
The deadline to complete the survey is Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m.
Data from the survey will be analyzed by the firm and prepared in a report for the school district board.
Also included in the report will be information gathered from two upcoming forums regarding the superintendent search on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at North Beach Middle and High School in the Student Success Center. The firm will host a staff forum at 4:30 p.m. followed by a community forum at 6 p.m. Both forums will include an update on the superintendent search and a questions and answer session with attendees.
Dr. Angela Lyte Crowther has served as interim superintendent for North Beach School District since March. Crowther’s appointment followed the suspension of then superintendent Andrew Kelly, who was hired in 2018. Kelly later resigned and was sentenced to 60 months of probation on five-year-old charges for Driving Under the Influence.
