Current conditions and protective actions for ongoing erosion along the north side of Willapa Bay will be discussed at a community meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Tokeland
Speakers from the Washington Department of Transportation, Army Corps of Engineers, Washington Sea Grant, Grayland Drainage District and Pacific County Department of Community Development will share news of activities and plans to address the ongoing eroding shoreline, including the schedule for maintenance and repair this summer of sections of State Route 105, as well as a performance update on the recently installed dynamic revetment near the Grayland Drainage tide gates.
The Grayland dynamic revetment project mimics natural beach behaviors by allowing strategic movement of rock and large woody debris in response to wind, wave and tidal action on the shoreline. This revetment installation protecting the Grayland tide gate was completed late last year and successfully weathered this past winter’s storms and tides.
The current status and proposed plans for an extension of revetment areas will be discussed at the meeting, which will be held at the Shoalwater Bay Community Center, 2373 Old Tokeland Road.
