An Ocean Shores man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on State Route 109 north of Hoquiam. The victim, 25-year old Kolton L. Beglinger, was “apparently lying down in the road,” said WSP Trooper Russ Winger. “We don’t know why” Beglinger was in the roadway, he added.
The incident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. about seven miles north of Hoquiam. A 33-year old Hoquiam woman was driving a 1990 Ford F150 pickup northbound when she encountered Beglinger in the roadway. The driver “was unable to stop in time,” striking the man.
An autopsy was performed Monday morning, and Grays Harbor County Coroner Lane Youmans said the cause of death was “blunt force injuries to the torso.”
The State Patrol is still investigating. It is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved, and toxicology test results can take months to process, said Youmans. The vehicle was impounded at the scene of the accident, but no charges have been filed or are pending against the driver at this time.
