A man was arrested Wednesday after getting in a confrontation with another passenger on a Grays Harbor Transit bus bound from Aberdeen to Westport.
The confrontation began over an open window, said Cmdr. Steve Timmons of the Aberdeen Police Department.
“It was 1:27 in the afternoon. We had a report of a fight on a transit bus,” Timmons said. “The report came out as people fighting on the bus. The bus was in front of the Bishop Athletic Complex.”
The confrontation, between the suspect, a 47-year-old Westport man, and an 18-year-old man, began at the previous stop. The bus driver called 911, stopping in front of the athletic complex. Police arrived in about four minutes, Timmons said.
“It was over a passenger opening a window,” Timmons said. “The suspect took it upon himself to confront and chest bump the passenger who opened the window.”
Police took the 47-year-old man into custody for unlawful bus conduct, Timmons said. The suspect was cooperative, Timmons said. Civility and good behavior toward others are all that’re needed to avoid a similar scenario, Timmons said.
“Just behave,” Timmons said. “Simple as that.”
