Pacific County reports 12 COVID-19 cases the week of Aug. 5-12

Pacific County’s COVID-19 case number rose to 55 over the week of Aug. 5-12, up 12 from the previous week, according to numbers released Wednesday by county Emergency Management Director Scott McDougall.

Five cases were reported Aug. 10. According to McDougall’s update, three were connected to social clubs in the south county, one if a family member of a previously identified individual, and one was connected to recent travel to another state.

“This case developed symptoms while out of state and has returned to Pacific County,” said McDougall.

Of the five cases, one is currently hospitalized and four are convalescing at home.

Four more cases were reported in the county Aug. 11, and were connected to previously disclosed positive cases and are isolating at home.

There are 13 active cases in the county being monitored by Public Health and, as of Aug. 12, eight hospitalizations. A total of 2,320 tests have been administered, with 2.4% coming back positive.

Of the 55 cases, 51 are confirmed cases that reside within the county. There are two COVID-19-related deaths in the county, but McDougall’s report said Wednesday there was one case “pending.”

Pacific County has begun releasing county zip code data, which provides the case count per zip code. McDougall said this data represents permanent residence of county COVID-19 cases, but is not a representation of where COVID-19 transmission or exposure occurred.

The most current numbers show 11-15 cases in the Raymond (98577) and Long Beach (98361) zip codes. The Ilwaco (98624) and Ocean Park (98640) zip codes have 6-10 reported cases. The remainder of the county’s zip codes, including Grayland, Tokeland, South Bend, Chinook and Naselle, report 0-5 cases.
