Papac will run for District 1 Port of Grays Harbor Commissioner

Port of Grays Harbor District 1 Commissioner Phil Papac announced his candidacy Friday for the position he was appointed to last year.

Papac was selected from a pool of seven candidates for the position left vacant when Chuck Caldwell retired in July.

”As a lifelong Harborite who loves Grays Harbor I’m proud to have been a member of the Port team,” he said. “The Port achieved several records this past year, one of them being the amount of cargo shipped from our port. Another highlight for 2018 was the purchase of the pontoon project property from the state for future growth.”

Papac was born and raised in Montesano and has raised a family there with his wife of 40 years, Danya. For the past 38 years, the two have owned the Crows Nest restaurant in Montesano. The couple has two grown sons, two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren.
