How long has it been since you visited the Polson Museum in Hoquiam?
If it’s been awhile — or even if you were just there last month — Sunday, Dec. 12, would be a great time to stop by and see what they’ve done with the place for the holidays.
The museums’s annual open house is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
And it’s not just the holiday decorations that will catch your eye.
Throughout the COVID-19 shut-downs, museum staff and volunteers have been working to fully restore the interior of the Polson mansion.
“The towering Colonial Revival home hasn’t looked so good since it was new in 1924 — fresh paint throughout, polished hinges, door knobs, switch plates. What is missing is the torn 1970s wallpaper, chipped paint, unnecessary clutter, awful textured ceilings and gaudy track lighting,” said Polson Museum Director John Larson.
Until the end of the year, the Polson will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4. The Polson Store is open for Christmas shoppers to browse a wide selection of locally relevant books, films and more.
