The Quinault Indian Nation will host the Lake Quinault Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 18.
Adult prizes include Cabela’s gift cards — $1,500 for the largest cutthroat trout; $500 prize for the second-place cutthroat, $200 for the third largest, and a $500 card for the largest Dolly Varden. The second place Dolly Varden will earn the angler an inflatable kayak and the third place winner will earn a fishing gear combo.
For the kids 12 and younger, a bicycle is the prize for the largest cutthroat trout. Second and third place entries earn a fishing gear combo.
Fishing will start at 6 a.m. and all fish mush be turned in by 2 p.m. Lake permits and boat permits are waived during derby hours only.
All fishermen must have a fishing derby ticket, which can be purchased for $25 at the Rain Forest Resort, Amanda Park Merc, Humptulips Grocery and The Ace of Clubs Tavern in Hoquiam prior to the event. Fishing will start at 6 a.m. and all fish must be checked in at Lake Quinault School in Amanda Park by 2 p.m.
