The Quinault Indian Nation will host several public meetings over the coming months to provide an opportunity for the upper Quinault River valley community and local stakeholders to participate in development of long-term road and access solutions for the upper Quinault River valley, according to a press release from Bill Armstrong at the Quinault Department of Fisheries.
The first meeting will be at the Lake Quinault Lodge at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of the need and intent for road infrastructure and access solutions, including potential alternatives that may be considered to reduce the risk of erosion and flood related damage to roadways and property in ways that are compatible with restoration of the upper Quinault River.
“We are looking forward to meeting with our Quinault area neighbors to discuss development of long-term road and access solutions that are compatible with restoration of the upper Quinault River,” said Fawn Sharp, President of Quinault Indian Nation. “By working together in good faith with road managers and including the Quinault valley community in the process, we are confident that we can arrive at sustainable long-term solutions that satisfy our shared interests and values.”
