Rumors about Duffy’s Restaurant closing are false, said owner Ralph Larson.
“Duffy’s is not being shut down — it’s nothing but rumors,” said the second-generation owner of the restaurant at 1605 Simpson Ave., in Aberdeen. “It’s all a bunch of talk.”
Recently, he has been asked what’s going on. “A lot,” he said.
However, the Beehive in Montesano, which is also owned by the Larson family, is up for sale. It has been on the commercial real estate market for nearly 60 days. Larson and his son, Paul, are co-owners of the Montesano restaurant at 300 Main St.
It’s listed as a commercial property with Windermere Real Estate with an asking price of $650,000 and includes restaurant and bar equipment. An online advertisement on the Commercial Brokers Association website describes the property as a decades-long “mainstay” of east Grays Harbor County that was originally built in 1941.
“Good opportunity to own restaurant and bar on a corner lot with easy access to the freeway in Montesano WA,” the ad states. “Owner finance is available at 20 percent down. Inventory food and liquor will be sold separately.”
The more than 3,700 square foot property seats up to about 115 customers. It was recognized as the November Business of the Month by Greater Grays Harbor Inc. and prepares many items based on Duffy’s menu offerings, including razor clams, Swedish pancakes and Little Wild Blackberry Pie.
Paul is already doing a variety of things. The Larsons own other businesses, such as three storage facilities and storefront in Hoquiam, he said.
And, the elder Larson is thinking about the future and his eventual retirement.
“I’m going to be 76 and someday I’d like to retire,” Larson said. “Everything’s for sale … for the right price.”
