Every November, the Quinault Beach Resort & Casino in Ocean Shores opens the Great Hall to Sasquatch researchers, witnesses, enthusiasts and skeptics to share information on the elusive species.
This all ages event features vendors in the pre function area, witness testimony hosted by the hometeam Olympic Project, speakers from all over the world and people who have an interest or who have seen these beings.
Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores will host the Sasquatch Summit on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22 and 23, featuring speakers David Paulides, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Scott Taylor, Barb Shupe and members of the Olympic Project.
According to Sasquatch Summit organizers, “Grays Harbor Washington is considered by most as the Sasquatch capital of the world. We are ground-zero for encounters, sightings and culture. From the history of the Quinault Indian Nation and “Siet’ko,” to the many years of loggers having run-ins with these forest dwellers, there is something going on and our goal is to provide as much information as possible. And also, to give a platform for those who have had experiences and share what they witnessed.”
Guest speakers
Olympic Project Research Group
The Olympic Project is an association of dedicated researchers, investigators, biologists and trackers committed to documenting the existence of Sasquatch through science and education.
Through comprehensive habitat study, DNA analysis and game camera deployment, their goal is to obtain as much information and empirical evidence as they can, with hopes of being as prepared as possible when and if species verification comes to fruition.
Their studies are conducted in a non-invasive manner with respect and sensitivity to probable habitat they believe this amazing species inhabits.
Scott Taylor
Bigfoot Field Research Organization
Scott Taylor grew up in the Pacific Northwest in Oregon during the ‘60s and ‘70s.
“I remember the Patterson-Gimlin film when I was 11. I hunted and fished the coast range of Oregon and never had a Bigfoot sighting. Then, many years later, living in Washington state, I had my first Bigfoot encounter in the Wynoochee Valley in October 2005. It was very upsetting at the time, but I wanted to learn everything I could.
“I went on a BFRO expedition in 2006 and was hooked. I became an investigator that fall. I have completed just over 200 investigations. I also have been on so many BFRO expeditions that I have lost count. Most recent was this past August, where I was fortunate enough to see my seventh Bigfoot. In all those investigations and experiences, I have learned a great deal. Yet, there is so much more to learn. I look forward to sharing what I know with all of you.”
Barb Shupe
Cascade Mountains
After 40 years of living and working in a small community in the Cascade Mountains of Washington state, Shupe has come to know the local Sasquatch and has built a situation of mutual trust with them. In 2013, she created the You-Tube channel, Squatchin’ with Barb & Gabby, where she shared her weekly progress with habituation. In the years since then, she has come to realize she was the one being habituated.
Shupe continues to share her Sasquatch experiences, interactions and amazing camera catches, including the “Cloaker” video, recently featured in the hit movie, “Flash of Beauty Paranormal Bigfoot.”
David Paulides
Missing 411
A National Park Ranger told writer David Paulides a troubling story. Over his years of involvement with numerous search and rescue operations at several different National Parks, he had detected a trend that he couldn’t understand.
The Ranger explained that during the first seven to 10 days of a disappearance he would witness massive search and rescue activity and significant press coverage. Following this initial weeklong effort there was almost always an immediate halt to the coverage, a discontinued search for the victims and no explanation from the search authorities.
It bothered David enough that he began asking questions yet he got no answers. So he conducted research. What he discovered shocked him. People of all ages have been disappearing from National Parks and forests at an alarming rate, all under similar circumstances. Victims’ families are left without closure and the Park Service refuses to follow up or keep any sort of national list and/or database of the missing people. Thousands of missing people.
David’s instincts told him this was a story that needed to be told. He devoted six years to investigating missing people in rural areas. The result? The identification of 52 geographical clusters of missing people in North America.
These clusters formed the basis for four Missing 411 books that have garnered widespread acclaim and multiple 5-star ratings on Amazon.com. The story has been featured on several primetime newscasts and on hundreds of ratio stations across the country.
Dr. Jeff Meldrum
Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology
His academic research centers on the evolution of hominin bipedalism. His interests in the footprints attributed to Sasquatch, came into focus when he examined a set of 15-inch tracks in the Blue Mountains of Southeastern Washington.
His lab now houses over 300 footprint casts. He conducts collaborative laboratory and field research throughout the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West, as well as internationally (e.g. China, Russia), and has spoken about his findings in numerous popular and professional publications, interviews, television appearances, public and professional presentations.
He is author of “Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science” which explores his and other scientists’ evaluations of the contemporary evidence for the reality of this legendary being, and also affords deference to tribal people’s traditional knowledge of this subject. He has also published two field guides, one focusing on Sasquatch, the second casting the net more broadly to consider relict hominids around the world.
