Simpson Avenue Bridge to close overnight for repairs next week

Closure is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday

The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced the closure of the Simpson Avenue Bridge in Hoquiam overnight for repairs next week.

Weather permitting, contractor crews will make expansion joint repairs to the bridge during overnight hours when traffic volumes are less.

The closure is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Travelers will follow a signed detour using the U.S. 101 Riverside Bridge, which will temporarily accommodate two-way traffic during repairs.

The work is part of an existing project to repair several miles of U.S. 101 and make pedestrian improvements.

Updated construction and maintenance information is available online. Before heading out the door, travelers can find real time on the WSDOT app and by following the WSDOT regional Twitter feed.
