The Satsop Bulb Farm’s spring daffodil season has bloomed, just in time for spring, although the sun is dragging behind this week.
It’s still umbrella season for at least a few more days, as a series of weather systems will extend the rainy days through the weekend. Some warmer weather will follow early next week along with a chance for a peek of the sun.
The wintry weather trio will bring scattered lowland showers, mountain snow and breezy winds into the weekend as another system sets in, the National Weather Service reported. Gusts could reach upward of 30 mph in Seattle on Thursday evening.
Saturday could prove to be “a little bit of a break” from the rain in the lowlands, but it won’t last long. Sunday will bring it back with a chance of river flooding and more mountain snowfall before ushering in warmer temperatures.
Snow levels could rise “sharply” above 7,000 feet by Sunday night while rivers rise, the NWS reported.
The temperature will climb to highs in the mid-60s and lows in the high 40s into Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday could bring a dry spell and a chance of sunshine, before another system rolling in Wednesday could return the region to the rainy status quo.
Back at the Satsop Bulb Farm, the weather, as long as it doesn’t get into freezing temperatures, is not a matter. The farm sells fresh cut daffodils, primroses, pansies, violas and more.
They are a small family farm nestled in the Satsop Valley. They have specialized in growing various varieties of daffodil and tulip bulbs since the 1930s. This family farm is now in its fourth generation, growing 70 different varieties of daffodils and 30 varieties of tulips.
Their farm store is open through May 15 for the cut flower market as well as a selection of annuals, perennials and general spring gardening supplies.
