SR 109 in Ocean City reopens following flooding

The state Department of Transportation issued this news release Tuesday afternoon:

OCEAN SHORES – There is good news for travelers who use State Route 109 in Ocean City. During the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 5, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews reopened the highway. During the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 4, WSDOT closed one mile of SR 109 after water covered the roadway.

Flood safety tips:

Do not drive through road closed signs.

6 inches of water is enough to stall a vehicle or knock a person down.

1 foot of water can make you lose control of your vehicle.

2 feet of water can sweep a vehicle away.
