Three separate motor vehicle accidents sent three drivers to the hospital Saturday, according to State Patrol reports.
A three-car collision on Highway 101 north of Hoquiam, near Fairfield Acres Road, sent a 30-year-old Taholah woman to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. According to the State Patrol, the woman was southbound shortly before 7:30 a.m. when she crossed the center line, side swiping a vehicle in the northbound lane, then colliding head-on with a second northbound vehicle.
The side-swiped vehicle, driven by a 66-year-old Hoquiam man, came to rest in the northbound shoulder; the third vehicle and its 36-year-old Edmonds driver and 33-year-0ld Bonney Lake passenger left the roadway, colliding with a fence and coming to rest in a mobile home park. There were no other reportable injuries and the State Patrol is investigating the cause.
About 90 minutes later, “defective equipment” contributed to a single-car accident on State Route 109. According to the State Patrol, an 18-year-old Aberdeen woman was northbound on 109 turning onto southbound State Route 115 toward Ocean Shores and wound up in the southbound ditch. She was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Shortly after 2 p.m., two vehicles collided on the Chenois Creek Bridge north of Hoquiam on State Route 109, sending one person to the hospital. The State Patrol reported a 65-year-old Ocean Shores woman was northbound, when she crossed the center line on the bridge and struck a pickup driven by an 81-year-old Roy man. The pickup rotated counterclockwise and wound up with its rear in the southbound ditch. The other vehicle came to rest in the northbound ditch.
The State Patrol said the Ocean Shores woman is facing charges of second-degree negligent driving. The Roy man and a passenger were not injured.
