Three people were transported for care following an early-morning crash Tuesday on U.S. Highway 101 south of Cosmopolis after a head-on crash.
Alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the incident report from the Washington State Patrol.
A 26-year-old Astoria man driving southbound on U.S. Highway 101 with a passenger in his Toyota pickup crossed the center divider and struck a Chevy pickup driven by a 39-year-old South Bend man not long after 2 a.m.
Alongside the State Patrol, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office, Raymond Fire Department, and Artic Volunteer Fire Department responded to the crash.
All three individuals were injured, but not seriously, said Trooper Katherine Weatherwax in an email. Rainy roads and alcohol played a factor in the crash, and do not mix, Weatherwax said.
The driver of the southbound truck, 26-year-old Gregorio Abundiz Garcia, is charged with driving under the influence and is currently in custody at the county jail.
