Two arrested following robbery, police search

The initial call was early Monday morning

An early Monday morning call from Humptulips for a robbery resulted in two arrests; one for the robbery, and a second for acting as an accessory.

The initial call came in at 6:18 a.m. from the C.D. Hanson Road area, said Undersheriff Kevin Schrader of the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office.

“We got a call of a robbery that took place at the location,” Schrader said in a phone interview. “Subject said her ex-boyfriend assaulted her and stole her vehicle. He was believed to be armed with a shotgun.”

A rapid search located the vehicle of the suspect, a 36-year-old man, in the vicinity of his residence. Deputies contacted a woman in a trailer at the residence, who told officers the suspect wasn’t present, Schrader said. After searching the suspect’s trailer, officers used dogs and drones to sweep the woods in the area, failing to locate the suspect.

Sheriff’s deputies then searched the woman’s trailer, locating the suspect and detaining him. Both the suspect and the woman, a 65-year-old Humptulips woman, were taken into custody, her being charged as an accessory to a crime.

No firearm was ever located, Schrader said, and both the suspect and the woman deny that one was ever present. Both were detained without incident and taken to the county jail, Schrader said.
