Two men were arrested Wednesday following a call about a pair of missing electric bicycles and a rapid investigation by the Aberdeen Police Department.
APD received a call at about 6:30 on Wednesday evening from a Canadian national that following a meal at Billy’s Bar and Grill, who said two electric bicycles valued at $8,000 apiece that had been racked on the back of their vehicle had been stolen.
Officers reviewed video taken inside Billy’s and observed two suspects cutting the bicycles off the vehicle and carrying them across Heron Street.
Officers on foot located the suspects who were unsuccessfully attempting to remove the lock securing the two bikes to each other and arrested both without incident. Both suspects were charged with 1st degree theft and possession of dangerous weapons, according to the news release.
Total time elapsed from the report of the bikes being stolen to the suspects being taken into custody was 1 hour, 16 minutes, said Lt. Steve Timmons in an email.
The bikes were returned to their owners.
