Two-car rollover crash at the south end of Simpson Ave. Bridge Tuesday evening

A two-car rollover crash at the south end of the Simpson Avenue Bridge Tuesday evening sent a passenger to the hospital with minor injuries, according to a statement from the Hoquiam Police Department.

A 2007 Dodge Ram being driven by an 18-year-old Raymond man was struck by a 2011 Toyota Scion, according to the police statement, that was crossing Simpson Avenue from 10th Street southbound at about 7:50 p.m. The Scion was being driven by a 69-year-old Hoquiam woman.

The force of the collision caused the pickup truck to spin 180 degrees and over the concrete barrier on the south side of the bridge, according to the police statement. Both the driver and his 18-year-old male passenger were found alert and standing in the cab of the truck. Both were able to climb out of the passenger side window with the assistance ofHoquiam firefighters.

The driver of the Scion was not injured in the collision, according to Hoquiam Police. The passenger of the truck was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for a minor, non-life threatening injury.

Traffic was reduced to one lane and the Hoquiam Police Explorers of Post 23 were called in for traffic control.
