Two new health care providers are now accepting new patients at Elma Health Care Clinic.
Lisa Hemmersbach and Jean Carter, both advanced registered nurse practitioners, have joined to the clinic at 11 Schouweiler Rd. Elma Health Care Clinic is a private, family-owned health care facility.
Hemmersbach is returning to the Northwest, where she grew up in a small town, after nearly 10 years as a military flight medic, and said she and her family are looking forward to moving from Olympia into the community.
“My husband and I share five children with all of them living at home,” said Hemmersbach. “We enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking and playing.”
Hemmersbach starting off as a certified nursing assistant, working her way up to her current position as an adult geriatric nurse practitioner. She previously worked at Littlerock Family Practice in Tumwater from 2018-19 and before taking on the position in Elma was working solo seeing adult and geriatric patients in their homes.
Carter moved to the state in 1997 from the Midwest and has been working in the medical field since 1987. In 1991 she started as a registered nurse in multiple medical areas including intensive care and emergency department. She graduated in 2014 from Concordia University Wisconsin with a Master of Science in nursing.
“My goal for care of patients in Elma is to provide quality holistic patient-centered care, giving the option for natural health treatments in addition to Western medicine, treating the whole person and not the disease,” said Carter, who lists her interests as nutrition and optimal health, hiking, kayaking, outdoor activities, remodeling, and spending time with her family.
