‘Top Gun: Maverick’ plays at the 7th St. Theatre

The movie “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022) is playing at the 7th St. Theatre on Friday May 17, and Saturday May 18. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the movie beginning at 7:30 p.m. 7th Street Theatre is located at 313 7th St., in Hoquiam. Cost is $6.

Set 30 years after its predecessor, it follows Maverick’s return to the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program (also known as U.S. Navy-Fighter Weapons School — Top Gun), where he must confront his past as he trains a group of younger pilots, among them the son of Maverick’s deceased best friend Lieutenant Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, USN.

Quinault Wellness Center Race for Recovery 5K is Saturday

The Race for Recovery 5K 2024 is from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 8 a.m. at the Quinault Wellness Center, 511 W. Heron St. in Aberdeen. The Race for Recovery is organized by the Quinault Wellness Center. The Quinault Wellness Center supports the local community by providing a holistic approach for the treatment of substance use disorders.

All community members are accepted; they do not have to be a tribal member to be a patient. Their low barrier services aim to provide accessible and non-judgmental care to individuals seeking help, regardless of their circumstances. They understand that life can be challenging and that everyone has unique experiences, that’s why their services are tailored to meet clients specific needs.

Your race registration will include a gift bag and a T-shirt. If you would like to make an additional donation please reach out to the Quinault Wellness Center at accounts.payable@quinaultwc.org. Kids 12 and under can race for free if participating with an adult. Division winners will receive a gift basket, and hold the honors of being “the best.” If you are in need of assistance to cover the cost of the race please reach out to the Quinault Wellness Center.

2024 Home & Garden Show blooms this weekend

On Saturday, May 18 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, May 18 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), the Master Gardeners will be putting on their 25th Annual Home and Garden Show at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds in Elma. Parking and entrance are free.

The Pavilion will be jam-packed with new vendors and many returning favorites with inspiring, useful and creative items for your homes and gardens. Master Gardeners will be on hand to give help and advice at the Plant Clinic, the Kids Activity Center and with the refreshments. Guest speakers are scheduled throughout both days to give “how to” presentations and workshops.

Cooperating agencies are Washington State University, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Grays Harbor and Pacific counties.

‘Knock the Dust Off’ Car show is this Saturday

The “Knock the Dust Off” Spring Car Show and Charity Drive is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Interstate Honda Authorized Service Center, 1720 Simpson Ave., Aberdeen.

The event is presented by Test of Time Car Club and Interstate Honda

Entry Fee for vehicles is $15. Admission is free for the public

There will be food, music, door prizes, signature handmade trophies and a 50/50 raffle.

All makes, models and years of cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome.

Interstate Honda will donate $1,000 to the Aberdeen High School Automotive program. Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Friends of Aberdeen Museum to help fund and rebuild since the fire of 2018.

Take in the Savor Seabrook Seafood and Wine Festival this Saturday

The Savor Seabrook Seafood and Wine Festival is from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, in Seabrook.

More than 20 wineries from around the state will “pop their corks” at the festival.

Doors open at noon, providing access to more than 50 wines and gourmet seafood from some of the coast’s best food operators.

Sample from each of Seabrook’s fine dining restaurants all at one stop. The 21-and-over affair includes live music, lawn games and more.

General admission begins at noon. You can get tickets in advance or purchase tickets at the door. Upon check-in, you will be given a commemorative Savor Seabrook 2024 wine glass with 10 tasting tickets in your glass. Tickets are good for both food and wine and if you need more, you can purchase them for $20 at designated ticket booths.

Once you’re inside, live music will be playing, and you’ll have access to over 20 wineries pouring more than 50 types of wine, including Bookwalter, Chehalem, Fidelitas, Palencia/Monarcha, Sleight of Hand, Yellowhawk, Five Star Cellars, Balboa, Foundation Cellars, Dunham, and many more great wineries from throughout the state of Washington. In addition, they will have two beers on tap.

In addition to great wine, Savor Seabrook will feature delicious local seafood from the area’s top restaurants and eateries such as Frontager’s Pizza, Koko’s, and more.

Enjoy plants and pints at Steam Donkey Brewing Company

Plants and Pints takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. at Steam Donkey Brewing Company, 101 E. Wishkah St. in Aberdeen. Cost is $20.
