Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3057 and American Legion Post 140 and their auxiliaries, both of Westport, will host a 9/11 Remembrance Walk on Monday.
The walk will begin at 11 a.m. at the Grays Harbor Lighthouse and will go the VFW’s Gen. James H. Doolittle building on 211 Pacific Avenue.
“It’s less than a mile, so (bring) good walking shoes,” said VFW Post Commander Dennis Hall. “It goes very slow because a lot of us are old. We will have a couple people driving to pick up people who can’t go on.”
Police will block intersections as they walk, Hall said. There will be a small event at the building at the conclusion of the walk.
“The commander will make a short welcome back at the post when everyone comes in from refreshments,” Hall said. “The post chaplain will offer a prayer.”
Hall said that the crowd can vary. It’s unclear when the remembrance walk started, Hall said.
“There’s been a few years when there haven’t been very many of us,” Hall said.
Anyone needing a ride back to their vehicles at the lighthouse will receive one, Hall said.
