Oyster lovers will descend by the hundreds to Brady’s Oysters on the west end of the Elk River Bridge on the road to Westport for the oyster producer’s annual oyster feed Saturday.
Kristi Ballo, co-owner of Brady’s, said more than 600 people bought into the 2018 all-you-can-eat feed, which has been a popular staple of oyster lovers since its beginning in 1994.
The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. For $20, you can get your fill of steamed and barbecued oysters, oyster stew, clam chowder, a shrimp/Craisins coleslaw (integrating the dried cranberry Ocean Spray product, produced just a few miles east in Markham), rolls and a soda or water. Hot dogs are for sale for those who don’t go for the oysters.
Ballo said there will also be live music throughout the event, though, as in previous years, the organizers don’t list the bands as the lineup can change.
The proceeds from the event all go toward scholarships at Ocosta High School.
There is a fair amount of parking in the area of Brady’s Oysters, physical address 3714 Oyster Place, Aberdeen, but with the large amount of people expected, Ballo strongly recommends people carpool the 20 miles west of Aberdeen on State Route 105; look for the Brady’s Oysters sign immediately after crossing the Elk River Bridge and turn north on Oyster Place to get there.
