WSU Extension will offer a Family Forest Field Day later this month.
“Whether you own a home in the woods or many acres of land, this “out in the woods” educational event is packed with practical how-to information that you need to know,” says Patrick Shults, WSU Extension Forester. “Stewarding land is both rewarding and challenging. Successful management is due to the decisions you make and the actions you take. Attending the Family Forest Field Day will prepare you to plan and execute sound practices, enabling you to accomplish your management objectives, reduce risks, and protect your financial investment.
“Don’t own land but are still interested in learning more about forests? Maybe you’re thinking about buying some forestland but want to see what you’re getting into?
“All are welcome! Choose from a variety of classes covering topics like harvesting, thinning and pruning, planting, forest farming, invasive species removal, creating wildlife habitat, and more!”
Field Day will be held at Wildcat Cree Tree Farm, 72 Tornquist Road in McCleary, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Registration at the door costs $40 for an individual and $50 for a family, or save $10 by registering before Aug. 19.
