The YMCA of Grays Harbor celebrated the 65th anniversary of Camp Bishop with a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday to coincide with the renovation of the Hal Davis Dining Hall.
According to a press release, over 700 volunteers worked together to build Camp Bishop in one day 65 years ago. Work to complete the Master Plan to renovate Camp Bishop is still ongoing. Features of the new dining hall include a renovated kitchen, energy efficient windows and glass doors, new siding, insulation, three restrooms and an ADA accessible restroom, and increased capacity to serve more youth.
This summer more than 585 campers attended Camp Bishop and over $31,000 was given out in scholarship to more than 200 kids.
