Alice Pearl House, 94 years young, passed away on Aug. 9, 2018, in North Plains, Ore.
Alice was born to Ira Barber & Lorenza Harren Glidden. She attended Aberdeen schools and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1942, where she had been a Bobcat cheerleader for two years. She later graduated from Grays Harbor College with a nursing degree. Alice worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Grays Harbor Community Hospital, and retired from the CCAP Retired Volunteer Senior Program as a State Regional Ombudsman advocating for patients in several nursing home facilities. Alice celebrated 64 years of marriage to the love of her life, Jack House. Alice & Jack resided in rural Cosmopolis, Wash.
Among several interests, Alice most enjoyed square dancing with the Harbor Haylofters. She and her husband were inducted into the Hall of Fame for Square Dancers in Washington State. She loved to camp with family & friends, organized and cooked for family gatherings, and attended the Baptist Church. Her kindness, humor, and outgoing nature will not be forgotten. She knew how to live, laugh, and love!
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son William, and an infant daughter.
Surviving family include her daughters, Sandra Simpson and Sally Holt (Larry), son Laron House (Jenny), sister Irene Glessner (George), brother Donald Glidden (Terry), brother-in-law Dan House (Karen Jackson).
Alice is also survived by grandchildren, Lisa Atkinson (Shawn), Lynsi House, Kevin House (Andrea), Matt House, Jebb Holt, Seth Holt, Ariel Murphie, Shawn Murphie, Raymond Simpson (Bobbie), Randy Simpson (Suzi), Guy Simpson II (Rae), Gary Simpson (Robin), and Mike Simpson (Tracey); 11 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her caregiver, Melanie Wright Phipps (Tim).
A celebration of life is planned on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Cosmopolis Lions Club.
