Andrew Michael Ward, age 41, a longtime resident of the Harbor, died on April 8, 2017, due to injuries of an industrial accident. Andrew was born on Sept. 7, 1975, at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif. Being from a military family, he had lived in California, Hawaii, New York, Virginia and Florida, but always considered Ocean Springs, Miss., his home.
He began working at the shipyards in Virginia on various naval ships. After moving to the Harbor, he attended Grays Harbor College. Here he worked for Mayr Bros until moving on to Sierra Pacific, where he would train as an electrician.
Andrew is remembered as an extremely devoted son and family man. He loved the outdoors, being active in hunting, fishing and camping. But his true passion was cooking. He loved watching people eat the food he prepared for family gatherings, birthdays and other special occasions.
Andrew had been in a committed relationship with Danielle Bryant for more than 19 years. Together they had two sons, Caleb Daniel Ward and Ryan Garrett Ward of the family home in Elma. In addition, he is survived by his mother and step-father, Boni and Neil S. Milligan of Grand Bay, Ala.; father Larry Bryant of Mount Vernon and by two sisters, Aryka Schmitt and her husband Raymond of Mt. Vernon and Melanie Bryant of Mt. Vernon and a grandfather, Dale Bryant. There are four nieces, five nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in the extended family.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
