Anne Madeline Johnson, age 90, a lifetime resident of Hoquiam, died on Sept. 20, 2016, at her home in Hoquiam. Mrs. Johnson was born in Aberdeen on March 30, 1926, to Nick and Antonia Sertich. She was a graduate from Hoquiam High School, class of 1943.
On Sept. 14, 1946, she and William E. Johnson were married at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam. The couple had lived in Hoquiam all of their lives.
Anne was a dedicated family person, enjoying time with her children camping and taking part in school activities. She was known for something special always coming from her kitchen. She had worked as a clerk for Kresses, Scotts Market and the Washington State Liquor Store.
Surviving relatives include a son, Larry (Susie) Johnson of Hoquiam; a daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Dickinson of Redmond; five grandchildren, Chris (Tara) Johnson, Tim (Mara) Johnson, Mindy Johnson, Kim Dickinson and Jeff (Courtney) Dickinson and five great-grandchildren, Brianna Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Justin Moberly, Hunter Dickinson and Gage Dickinson. In addition to her husband William, three brothers, Tony Kombol, John Sertich and Nickton Sertick preceded her in death.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam. Entombment will follow at Aberdeen’s Fern Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Harbor’s Home Health & Hospice, 201 7th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550; or to the Hoquiam Food Bank, P.O. Box 472, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
