Arthur Victor Erickson passed away peacefully at home with the love of his life by his side on Jan. 13, 2023.

Arthur Victor Erickson passed away peacefully at home with the love of his life by his side on Jan. 13, 2023. He was 68.

Art was born on Oct. 1, 1954, to Albert and Esther Erickson. Art spent most of his childhood helping out at the family dairy farm. During his years at Elma High School, he was a star basketball player and graduated in 1973. After high school, Artie went to work as a logger for Simpson and Manke Timber. Later he worked as an owner-operator for AVE trucking. When Art moved to Montana he took a mining job in Jefferson City, eventually moving back to McCleary, Washington. He started working for Manke family resources as a heavy equipment operator which he loved.

Artie enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and playing pool. He also loved singing karaoke.

Arthur is survived by his soul mate and long-time caregiver Shannon Johnson, sons Adam (Debbie) Erickson and Jonathan (Becky) Erickson, daughter Lindsay (Chris) Mattoon; granddaughters Tori Fenn, Ainsley, Connolly, and Emerson Mattoon; great-granddaughters Hadley and Raelynn Fenn; sister Cheryl (Charlie) Travaglione; brother Dennis (Falina) Erickson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur is preceded in death by his sister Kathy Erickson, mother Esther Erickson and father Albert Erickson.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at Masonic Cemetery in Elma at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Elma Grange.
