Barbara “Barb” Lee Bordeaux, 87, of Grapeview, Washington, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 21, 2021.
Barbara was born in 1933 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She attended Lake Oswego High School and went on to Providence Nursing School in Portland, where she earned her RN.
Barb went to work as an RN in Portland, but then decided to do a bit of exploring. Her love of travel led Barb to Minneapolis and New York. Barb returned to Portland and went to work at the Children’s Clinic.
Barb still had a desire to travel so she put her RN training to use in a different way landing herself an opportunity to be an international flight attendant with United Airline but before Barb’s first flight her Aunt Lil (of Sourdough Lil’s) called and wanted Barb to come to Westport and meet a guy (Joe).
Barb met and married Joe Bordeaux in 1958. They spent the next 61 years together. Joe and Barb had four daughters: Celeste, Cindy, Suzanne and Ann, who they raised in Westport, Washington.
Barb always put her family first. She had a flare for the arts and expressed herself through painting, and we all enjoyed listening to Barb’s beautiful voice. She also threw a mean fastball! Barb always had her priority straight. Family first! Her love and support never wavered no matter what she had to sacrifice. Barb had a strong faith in God and her greatest love was her family. Joe and Barb retired to Mason Lake in 1992.
She is survived by her brother John Dewey Ollsen, sister Ethel Meyers, four daughters: Celeste, Cindy, Suzanne and Ann; three sons-in-law, Forrest Strickland, Bob Schempp and Matt Harschfeld; grandchildren: Kelsey Morgan, Joseph Hegge, Jacob Hegge, Megan Strickland, Robbie Strickland, Josh Schempp and Heidi Harschfeld, great-granddaughter Chloe Morgan and great-grandson Max Morgan. Barb also has a large extended and loving family and many friends.
Barb loved spending time with her family and friends at Mason Lake. Barb was always ready to listen, love and support her friends and family. Barb’s warm heart and kind spirit made such difference in the lives of so many, and we will miss her greatly.
