Barbara Jean Ellis, a resident of Grays Harbor for the last several years, passed away peacefully Sept. 22, 2020, at Pacific Care in Hoquiam, just seven days short of her 91st birthday.

Barbara was born in Seattle, Washington, to Donald E. and Esther E. (Trimble) Sergeant on Sept. 29, 1929. She attended Kirkland schools, Lake Washington High School and graduated from the Virginia Mason School of Nursing in 1951.

Barbara was a registered nurse for Overlake Hospital in Bellevue for 33 years, retiring in 1993.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Lester A. Ellis; her only son Larry A. Petersen; and her beloved sister Lt. Colonel Patricia A. Sergeant.

Barbara is loved and missed by her Hoquiam family, Steve and Suzanne Hierholzer; and Tim, Maria and Will Boling.

Barbara was an avid Seahawks fan and loved her cats. She generously supported many charities, especially the Humane Society and PAWS during her lifetime.
