On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Benjamin E. Stout Jr., loving husband, father of four, grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 11 passed away unexpectedly at the age of 87.

He was born in Sydney, North Dakota in 1934 to Mary Frances Hadley and Benjamin Edward Stout Sr. He was one of eight children raised on the family farm in Fried, North Dakota. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. During his years in the service, he served two tours overseas in Japan. He married his high school sweetheart, Gail Kathleen Karn, in 1953. Together they had four children.

Benjamin and Gail lived in Colorado and New Mexico before moving to Aberdeen in 1966. They owned and operated Northwest TV and Radio on Simpson Avenue for over 40 years. They had a wonderful marriage until Gail’s passing in 1993.

He found love again when he met Ramona Walters in the very TV store he owned. The sweethearts married in 2005 and enjoyed life on the Harbor until Ramona’s passing in 2019.

Ben loved fishing, golfing and spending time on his boat. He was a self-taught craftsman who took on any project he could get his hands on. He will be remembered as a selfless, hardworking man, who was generous with his time and always willing to share his talents with those in need.

He is survived by his four children: Sharyl (Stout) Akwenuke, Sue (Stout) Skinner, Steven Stout and Michele (Stout) Nagy, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Ramona’s children: David Blankenship, Greg Cearley and Gary Morris and her grandchildren. Ben will also be remembered by his brother Bob, with whom he shared a special bond. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail, second wife, Ramona and six siblings: Joe, Irene, Julia, George, Lee and Frances.

Ben will be dearly missed and his memory cherished by all.

The family wishes to extend our gratitude to his kind friends and wonderful neighbors for their love and support.

A service will be held in Ben’s honor at Fern Hill Funeral Home at 2208 Roosevelt St. in Aberdeen on Saturday Aug. 14 at 2 p.m.
