Our Father, Billy Lee McCowan, went home to his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2017. Billy was born in Hoquiam, Wash., on March 25, 1930, to Amiel Jesse and Mary Grace McCowan. After graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1949, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. where he served two years in the Korean War and was awarded a purple heart.
On Aug. 22, 1953, he married Joanne Hills. Together they raised four children, and were foster parents to several more children.
He is survived by his two sisters Marilyn Dickenson and Delores Schneller; daughters Lori Emery, Mindy Caldera, and Jeannie Nations; his son Timothy McCowan; along with his 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne and his oldest son Garry McCowan.
Come celebrate Dad’s life with us at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1200 Soule Ave., Hoquiam. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the charity of your choice or the First Baptist Church of Hoquiam Memorial Fund.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
