Bruce Craig Spencer passed away on April 13, 2017, at his home in Lakewood, Wash. He was 67 years old. Bruce was born on March 16, 1950, in Ellensburg, Wash. His family moved to Hoquiam in 1964. He graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1968 and was senior class president. Bruce was an outstanding athlete. He starred in football, basketball and baseball in high school and went on to play football at Grays Harbor College and the University of Montana, where he was inducted into both schools football Hall of Fame.
Bruce retired from the Bank of America as a Senior Vice President after 25 years of service and then again from Financial Pacific Leasing as Senior Vice President of the Credit Department.
Bruce loved spending time with family and friends at the beach house on Hood Canal. He enjoyed crabbing and boating. He was a big sports fan who followed the Seahawks, Mariners, Huskies and his alma mater, the University of Montana Grizzlies. He especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter play volleyball.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diana; daughters Kristyn Moss and Jamie (Gerry) Pense; granddaughter Camryn; mother Ada Spencer; brother Roger (Carol) Spencer; sisters Donna Shepherd, Toni (Bob) Houbregs; best friends John Boettcher and Stephen Gouge, along with several nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Donald L. Spencer and his sister Cathy Anne.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Aberdeen Rotary Log Pavilion on May 20, at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bruce C. Spencer Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Pense, P.O. Box 39334 Lakewood, WA 98496.
