Calvin Walter Morrill, 89, a lifetime Aberdeen resident and former production supervisor at Grays Harbor Paper in Hoquiam, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.

Calvin Walter Morrill, 89, a lifetime Aberdeen resident and former production supervisor at Grays Harbor Paper in Hoquiam, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.

Calvin was born on June 11, 1928, in Aberdeen to George and Laura (Brooks) Morrill. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1946 where he played varsity Baseball.

Following graduation he went to work for Grays Harbor Paper and continued working there until his retirement in 1991.

On June 12, 1948, Calvin married Audrey Marie Dill in the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen. She resides at the family home.

In 1948, Calvin enlisted in The U.S. Marine Corps and attained the rank of Corporal. He was wounded in action on the East Hill of the Chosen Reservoir during the Korean Conflict. He was later honorably discharged with the Korean Service Medal and Purple Heart in 1952. He returned to Aberdeen, his family and the paper mill.

He enjoyed collecting stamps, watching Seahawks and Mariners. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He was a member of the Aberdeen VFW Post 224 and the Aberdeen First Baptist Church.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 70 years, Audrey Morrill of Aberdeen; sons: Douglas (Rose) Morrill of Aberdeen, Robert (Jan) Morrill of Montesano and David (Joyce) Morrill of Edmonds; daughters: Susan (Rudy) Drolz of Hoquiam and Sally (Russell) Post of University Place, Wash.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Calvin will be inurned in Tahoma National Cemetery at a later date.
