Carol E. Murphy, a life-long Grays Harbor resident, was called home to be with our Lord on, June 8, 2024.

Carol E. Murphy, a life-long Grays Harbor resident, was called home to be with our Lord on, June 8, 2024. She passed peacefully while surrounded by family at her residence in McCleary, WA.

Carol was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Aberdeen, WA to Leland S. and Peggy L. Murphy who preceded her in death.

Carol became a local celebrity performer. From ages 9 to 13 she sang on the Grays Harbor radio as a fundraiser for the non-profit program, “The Sunshine Kids”. At 13 Carol’s talent led her to Hollywood where the studio wanted to sign her, but her mother said, “No!”… Thank God!

Carol attended Stevens, Hopkins, and Quinault schools. She met and married, Melvin Moodenbaugh who joined the Air Force. They traveled to Alaska, California, Delaware and then back to Washington.

For work, Carol began as a mill worker for Evans Products. She retired from Simpson Timber Co. in McCleary, WA where she was known for her hard work, stubbornness, and dedication to her trade.

Her interests included singing, guitar, gardening, boating, camping, clam digging and enjoying the sun and outdoors while always having fun.

She’s survived by her children; Rita Reick, Michael Moodenbaugh, Patrick Tondre, and Crystal Bishop, along with 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Aside from the children she doted on, Carol was one of five sisters. She is survived by, Stephanie Glover and Debra Haner. Her sisters who preceded her were, Patricia Forbes and Lela Halfacre.
