Carolyn Ann Chase passed away in Richland, Washington on Jan. 9, 2022.
Carolyn was born in Wallace, Idaho on Feb. 27, 1941, to Oliver and Evelyn Davis. She grew up with her older sister, Beverly, as well as her older brother Gerald. Upon graduating from Connell High School in 1958, she attended Eastern Washington University. During time away from EWU, Carolyn worked locally in a potato packing shed where she met and eventually married James Chase on June 18, 1960, in Othello, Washington.
Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Washington state dividing her time between the Columbia Basin area of Eastern Washington and Grays Harbor area of Western Washington. The majority of their lives, Jim and Carolyn resided mainly in Hoquiam, Washington. Apart from living in Hoquiam, they were located in Basin City, Washington.
After raising their four children, Carolyn worked 20 years as a bookkeeper for the state of Washington. She first worked for the State Patrol and then for the lottery. At the time of Jim’s retirement in 2009, Jim and Carolyn moved to Connell where she worked for the North Franklin School District before retiring in 2017.
Regardless of her location, Carolyn was very active at church teaching children, youth and young adults the truths of the Bible. Throughout her life, she was passionate about reaching people for Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim; her children: Jimmy (Elyce) Chase, John (Katrina) Chase, Jason (Kelly) Chase and Jeanne (Joe) Tomer; 11 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews as well as her sister Beverly. She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Evelyn Davis, her son Jeffery Scott Chase and her brother, Gerald Davis.
