Charles Leroy Painter, 73, Aberdeen resident and former millworker at Weyerhaeuser’s Southside lumber mill, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Harborview Medical Center after a fall at his home in Aberdeen.
Charles was born on Sept. 20, 1943, in Harrisburg, Penn. to Charles and Irene (Murdock) Painter. They moved to Grays Harbor when he was a boy and graduated from Hoquiam High School. Charles joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam during the war. He was Honorably Discharged and returned to the harbor where he went to work for Weyerhaeuser for many years.
He was an avid photographer and enjoyed capturing images.
Charles is survived by his wife Sharon Painter of Aberdeen; his father, Charles Painter of Axford Prairie and a brother, Daniel Painter also of Axford Prairie.
There will be a graveside service with military honors for Charles on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.
