Cheri Lee Bemis
Cheri Lee Bemis, age 67, moved on to be with the Lord at her home on April 24, 2023. She was born on Dec. 1, 1955, in Aberdeen to Alvin and Carol (Rhodes) Giroski.
She was raised in Lake Quinault, Washington, where she met the love of her life whom she married on Aug. 11, 1973. They were coming up on their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1976, they welcomed a daughter, Raina. In 1981, they moved to their family home in Hoquiam where Cheri’s spouse still resides.
Cheri worked as a waitress at Duffy’s for 9 years until moving on to become a cook for the Hoquiam School District, where she recently retired as head cook at Hoquiam High School.
Cheri enjoyed crafting. She loved crafting anything and everything and had incredible talent for whatever craft she decided to tackle. She created wreathes for others, ceramic painting, candle making, crocheting, gardening, scrapbooking and cooking/canning. But most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, daughter, six grandsons and their fur babies.
Known for her “Big Hair” (and her heart that matched) Cheri was also very well known for her incredibly caring soul, charismatic/spunky/sassy personality, her smile, laugh, as well as her ability to turn away negative situations into a positive one. She loved fiercely with her whole heart and always saw the good in everybody. She also had the ability to light up even the darkest room just by walking in. Cheri was the light of our lives. She was the most amazing, beautiful, loving wife, mother, nana and friend and will be missed beyond measure.
Cheri is survived by her husband Steven Bemis of Hoquiam; daughter Raina Mefford and her husband Derek of Grayland; grandsons, Colton Mefford of Grayland, Tristan Mefford of Grayland, Dalton Mefford of Westport, Dylan Mefford of Grayland, Ashton Mefford of Grayland and Owen Mefford of Grayland; and a brother and his wife, Bradley and Becky Giroski of Humptulips.
Her loving parents Alvin and Carol Giroski and her fur babies, Cisco bean and Percy pants, preceded her in death.
A celebration of life gathering will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the home of Molly and Ben Bouch, 917 Park Road, Aberdeen, Washington.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
