Clarence Terry Sanders, 74, lifelong resident of McCleary, passed away Feb. 9, 2025 at his home surround by his wife Del Vera, his son Donny, and daughter Tammy. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage, travels, family, and friends together.
Born Jan. 22, 1951 in Elma. He was the second son of Clarence Andrew and Olive Louise Sanders residents of McCleary. Terry was one of six siblings Tom (Ginnie) Sanders, Barb (Bill) MacMillan, Keith (Diana) Sanders, Roger Sanders, and Darliss (Lenny) Sloan.
Terry graduated from Elma High School class of 1970 and later married his beloved wife Del Vera on Feb. 9, 1973 and they would later welcome both of their children that filled their hearts and home.
Terry served his country in the US Army National Guard and worked for Simpson Plywood later transferring to Simpson Door Company where he worked until retiring at age 55 being able to enjoy more time traveling with family and friends.
Terry was a jack of all trades, could fix it all, always willing to give a hand, but if he couldn’t fix it he would give you his advice on how he would try to fix it. Terry enjoyed hunting, traveling, and giving away the “extras” to family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whether with baseball or cows, cars or lawn mowers, cutting meat or just listening to what they were up to. He enjoyed the friendships that he had with the people that he worked with, met while on travels, and at any gatherings that he was a part of. Terry made friends, true friends, and they were life long, many of which continued to reach out even after Terry and Del were no longer traveling.
Terry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Del Vera, son Donny (Teresa) Sanders, daughter Tammy (Pete) Dotson, grandson Andrew Sanders, and granddaughter Tatum Sanders.
Terry’s parents Slim and Louise Sanders and his older brother Tom preceded him in death. Terry will be deeply missed by those that are left behind who will always cherish his memory.
Services will be held 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 9 at the McCleary Cemetery with reception following at the McCleary VFW Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the McCleary Museum.
