Coreen Mae Selberg, 77, lifetime Grays Harbor resident, died Dec. 13, 2024, at the Bee Hive Retirement Community in McCleary, Washington.
Coreen was born on Aug. 11, 1947, in Aberdeen to Donald and Margaret (Gibb) Austin. She graduated from Aberdeen’s Weatherwax High School in 1965. She then attended Grays Harbor College and graduated with an Associate of Arts.
On May 11, 1972, Coreen married Dennis C. Selberg in Montesano, Washington. He resides at the family home.
Coreen was the Director of Senior Services for Coastal Community Action Program and really enjoyed working with the people of Grays Harbor. Following her retirement, she went to work at the Grays Harbor YMCA as a swimming instructor.
She was very involved in her children’s lives during their upbringing, including PTA, Little League Auxiliary, AHS Music Boosters and an organizer of the parent group supporting the Aberdeen YMCA Sea Otter Swim Team. She loved going to garage sales and shopping. She enjoyed finding a “good deal.” She loved her pets — all of her many pets through the years.
Coreen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dennis C. Selberg of Montesano, Washington; a son, Dennis T. (Michelle) Selberg of Lakewood, Washington; a daughter, Angela (Keith) Crowley of Montesano; a brother, Jerry Austin of Olympia, Washington; four grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Keenan) Smith, Nicholas Selberg, Austin Crowley and Jessica Crowley; and one great-grandchild on the way. Coreen was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Austin and a sister Mardonna Austin-McKillop.
