On Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, Daniel G Auckland, a beloved husband and father, passed away. He was 70. Born to Jane and Gordon Auckland, Daniel graduated from Bates Technical School with a technical degree in computer science. He went on to work at the Aberdeen Community Hospital then retiring in 2008. Before that he worked in the woods for 20 years at outfits like T J Spradlin Logging, Don Bell Sr. Logging and a few other shops.
Daniel was an active outdoor enthusiast spending time hunting, hiking, camping, mushroom picking and blackberry picking. Daniel also loved working on hot rods, gardening and watching the TV shows “Bonanza,” “The Rifleman,” “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Star Trek movies.
Daniel is survived by his wife JoAnn Auckland (they were together for 51 years) daughter Janie Hurliman, son Joseph Auckland, brothers David Auckland, Jim Auckland and John Auckland, four grandchildren, and many friends at the Grays Harbor Kidney Care Clinic.
Janie’s fondest memory of dad is when he walked her down the aisle at her wedding and entrusted her to her husband to be, Todd Hurliman, 22 years ago.
Daniel will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at Elma Masonic Cemetery. Burial arrangements entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen and Montesano.
