Darcel Ann (Burrell) Schouweiler passed on Jan. 20, 2025. Darcel was born Sept. 19, 1953, to Warren and Barbara Burrell in Lebanon, Oregon. Darcel grew up in Petersburg, Alaska where she met her first husband, Terry Carolin. Together they had two children, Amanda and Heather. After their separation, Darcy reconnected with her high school sweetheart Harold “Terry” Schouweiler. They married and had their daughter Katie.
Splitting their time between Elma, Washington and Petersburg, Darcel had many adventures — hiking the Chilkoot Trail, homeschooling, camping and geocaching. Darcel enjoyed fishing and setting crab pots on the beach in front of their home in Petersburg, gardening, and spending time with her daughters, six grandchildren and her many friends that she acquired throughout her life. She enjoyed operating Frogs RV Park, meeting and socializing with people from all over the world.
Darcel is survived by husband Harold T. Schouweiler, daughters Amanda O’Carolan, Heather Bailey (Teddy), and Katie Gonsalves (Nick); her grandchildren Jeada Lay, Jonah Lay, Joshua Lay, Maureen Needham, Zaydin Gonsalves and Xandria Gonsalves; brothers Galen Burrell and Don Wikan and sisters Susie Burrell and Samantha Williams.
