David Clinton Springer, 57, Elma resident and yarder engineer for Chehalis Valley Timber Co, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, on his way home from work.

David Clinton Springer, 57, Elma resident and yarder engineer for Chehalis Valley Timber Co, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, on his way home from work.

David was born on Oct. 30, 1962, in Olympia, Washington, to Clarence and Laura (White) Springer. He started working in the woods while he was still in high school, and he graduated from Elma High School in 1981. He worked the woods in the area and for many years worked for McMillan Logging. For the last year, he worked for Chehalis Valley.

He was a member of the Elma Eagles and he enjoyed fishing and hunting and working in his garden.

David is survived by a son Dustin Springer of Couer d’Alene, Idaho; a daughter, Shaelyn Springer of Williston, North Dakota; sisters: Helen Woods of Federal Way, Linda Harvey of Centralia, Washington, Penny Loudan of Surprise, Arizona, and Anita Springer of Lynnwood, Washington; His companion of 18 years, KJ Willis of Elma, Washington. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ed and Jerry Springer, and a sister Dawn.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Elma Eagles Hall on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. All are welcome to come and tell stories.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
