David John Pearce, 67, of Aberdeen, Washington and Sedona, Arizona, passed away on July 9, 2023, at Hope Island after docking his sailboat “Aurora” to hike the nearby trails.
Dave’s journey began in London, England with his birth on April 13, 1956, to parents Gordon and Barbara Pearce. Due to the untimely death of both parents by his tender age of five, Dave and his sister Jane moved to Southern California to join the family of their Aunt Ida and cousins, Tom, Caroline and Valerie.
After completing schooling in California and working in tree trimming and carpet installation, Dave relocated to Washington state and enrolled in the Wenatchee Valley College Radiologic Technology program. During this time, he met his true love and future spouse, Janice Davis of Tonasket, Washington. They were married on May 31, 1986, in Ellisforde, Washington. Upon obtaining his degree, Dave and Janice moved to Aberdeen, Washington for his lengthy and rewarding career in ultrasound at Grays Harbor Community Hospital.
Blessed with two sons: Russell Allen Pearce in 1981 (from December 1979 union with Brenda Bynum); and Mitchell Leslie Pearce in 1991, the family happily expanded by marriage to include daughters-in-law Christina Choi-Pearce and Daniela Pearce. Grandchild Benjamin Davis Pearce was born on Dec. 17, 2022, and was a true joy.
Dave and Janice enjoyed 37 years of matrimony. Treasured time was spent exploring Sedona, Arizona and sea outings on Aurora.
Dave was preceded in death by his father and mother, Gordon and Barbara Pearce; his sister Jane Pearce; and aunt/mom Dr. Ida Pearce. He is survived by his wife, Janice Pearce; sons Russell Choi-Pearce (Christina Choi-Pearce) and Mitchell Pearce (Daniela Pearce); and grandson Benjamin Pearce. Additional survivors include cousins/siblings Tom Vandermeijden, Caroline Carr and Valerie Vandermeyden; long-time friend John (Skip) Frank; father-in-law and mother-in-law Dale and Doreen Davis; and brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law John and Lisa Davis, Brian and Julie Pyper, and Jerry and Diane Hayes. Many nieces, nephews and friends are also especially remembered.
A memorial for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Aberdeen Log Pavilion, 1401 Sargent Blvd., Aberdeen, Washington. Harrison Family Mortuary is in care of arrangements.
