Ole Obi, Herbert Herrick Jr., Corene Laaksonen

Ole D. Obi

Ole Dale Obi, a longtime resident of Taholah, died Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was 71.

Ole had worked in various capacities for the Quinault Indian Nation. For the school district he had driven school bus and as a cook. He drove flatbed and log truck for M & R Trucking, worked in maintenance for the housing authority, as a commercial fisherman and as a fishing guide. He had also owned a burger stand, Ole’s Place.

There will be a dinner on Friday, March 14, at 1 p.m. at the Taholah Community Center.

A private urn committal will take place later.

Cremation arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Herbert Leroy Herrick Jr.

Herbert Leroy Herrick Jr., a resident of Montesano, died Monday, March 10, 2025, at home. He was 69.

He had worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company as a forklift driver and instructor from 1975 until its closure in 2009.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Central Park Neighborhood Church.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Corene Laaksonen

Aberdeen resident Corene Laaksonen died Tacoma on March 10, 2025 at the age of 95.

Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
