Life-long Grays Harbor resident, Dena Marie Dineen, died at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center, Aberdeen, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017.

Lifelong Grays Harbor resident, Dena Marie Dineen, died at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center, Aberdeen, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017. She was 69.

Dena was born in Aberdeen on April 17, 1947, the daughter of Floyd J. and Marcella Marie (Spere) Callaghan. She graduated from Weatherwax High School, Aberdeen, in 1965. She married Robert ‘Ted’ Dineen on June 26, 1965 in Aberdeen. He was the love of her life and they remained together until his passing in 2002.

Dena had lived in Hoquiam for most of her life, raising her children there and enjoying family get-togethers at their home. She was a bookkeeper for Dineen Shake & Shingle Co., and then Bayview Cedar Products from 1966 until retiring in 2005. She worked part time at Maine’s Auto Parts mostly so she could visit with her good friend Marie and the friends of her late husband Ted.

Dena loved to travel. She took her kids and several neighborhood kids on multiple camping trips every summer. The family spent many summer days traveling to car shows with the Pushrods Car Club. She took two cruises to Alaska with her mother, and went to Hawaii numerous times. She loved to gamble, and when her mother was still alive, she, her mom and brother would take trips to Jackpot, Nev. several times a year.

Dena is survived by her daughter: Kelli Dineen of Cosmopolis; her son: Christopher Dineen of Aberdeen; her brother: Ron and his wife Mary Callaghan of Aberdeen; she has four grandchildren: Taylor, Payton, Zack and Destry.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later time. At her request, there will be no formal service.
