Donald E. Morley, 87, lifetime Aberdeen resident and former log truck driver for Weyerhaeuser, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023 at Harbor Regional Health in Aberdeen.
Don was born on Dec. 16, 1935 in Grand Coulee, Washington to Vern and Olive (Fielding) Morley. They moved to Aberdeen two weeks later. Don attended Aberdeen High School. He went to work for Birchcraft Boat Company as an apprentice in North Aberdeen. He then rafted logs down the rivers. He later drove a log truck for Weyerhaeuser Lumber Co. for 14+ years. He then went to work for Earl Whiting-Olympic Fiber and retired in 2003.
He was a member of the Aberdeen Elks, Eagles and Moose.
Donald is survived by two sons: Robert (Kimberly) Morley of Aberdeen and Ronnie Morley of Montesano; a sister Jeanette Knudson of Elma; a grandson, Brian (Mui) Morley; three great-grandchildren: Raydynn, Berklee and Lyrick Morley.
Don enjoyed hunting trips to Montana and Wyoming with his family and friends as well as fishing in the areas near home. He was a thoughtful and caring pet owner over the years with both dogs and cats. He could always find a good conversation around the different cars and trucks he owned. One of his log trucks was even painted with his favorite sports team colors, the Seahawks.
There will be a funeral service for Donald on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel. A private burial will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.
