Dorene Faye Bindreiff Thompson Esteb passed peacefully in her home Sept. 4, 2024 at the age of 87.

Dorene was born on May 7, 1937, in Seattle, Washington to Gina (Capecci) and Richard (Dick) Paul Bindreiff.

In 1950, Dorene’s family moved to Pacific Beach, Washington, where she began her 7th-grade education. The following year, the family moved to Central Park, Aberdeen, Washington, and she attended Miller Junior High School and later graduated from Aberdeen High School.

Dorene pursued her passion for business at the Business College in Aberdeen.

Dorene married her high school sweetheart, Jack Thompson after graduating from Business College and together they built a successful venture, Thompson’s Welding and Logging Supply.

Dorene and Jack were blessed with two sons, Jesse (Jack) Jr. and Jerry Thompson.

After her marriage to Jack ended, Dorene found love again and married Leonard “Len” Esteb on May 7, 1993, celebrating their union aboard their sailboat. In the 17 ½ years together they shared many adventures, including a memorable honeymoon sailing to Alaska and sailing to the Pacific warm waters of Mexico.

After selling their sailboat, the couple settled at Summit Lake, where they lovingly remodeled their home, creating a sanctuary filled with love, laughter and a new hobby of restoring their 1932 Ford from the ground up as well as the beautiful 1957 Cadillac. The Car club began a new chapter in their very busy life, traveling to many car shows and taking honors for the beautiful cars they worked so hard restoring.

Following Len’s passing on Nov. 4, 2009, Dorene continued to cherish the memories they created together in their home on Summit Lake, gardening and traveling to car shows with the Car club. In October 2020, Dorene sold her home on Summit Lake and moved back to Central Park to be closer to her sons and their families, embracing her role as the matriarch with grace and wisdom.

Dorene will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her adventurous spirit and dedication to her loved ones leave an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Dorene was preceded in death by her parents, Gina and Dick Bindreiff, her husband Len, her sister, Tanzel Lundstrom and grandson, Bradly Thompson.

Her legacy continues through her beloved sons, Jack Thompson, Jerry (Cheryl) Thompson, stepsons William (Marilyn) Esteb and Richard (Patrice Fields) Esteb, and cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) Iskra, Sunny (Trevor) Wheeler, Tyler Thompson, Whitney Heitstuman, and Jacob Gull, as well as her great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

A Celebration Of Life for friends and family will be held to celebrate Dorene’s life Oct. 5, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Log Pavilion in Aberdeen, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
