Douglas David Daniels passed away peacefully Dec. 25, 2022, at Harbor Regional Health Center, surrounded by family. Doug was 56, born on April 16, 1966, in Aberdeen, Washington to David and Billie Jean Daniels.
Doug was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen/Hoquiam, graduating from Weatherwax Senior High School in 1984. After graduating, Doug worked for the family mill, Daniels Cedar Products and then went to work for Grays Harbor Paper and remained there until the paper mill closed.
Doug loved working with wood and working on remodeling projects around the house and for the family. He also loved working on and solving complex mechanical problems — a skill that served him well in his professions. Doug loved taking his dad to the beach to clear their lungs with fresh saltwater air. Above all, Doug’s greatest quality was his love for his son, parents, sisters, nieces and nephew.
Doug is survived by his parents, David H. Daniels and Billie Jean (Spurgeon) Daniels, his son Derrick Daniels, his sister Kathleen Carrigan (Tim), his sister Becky Benzing (Jerry), a niece Nicole Carrigan, a niece Natalie Ancich (Jeff) and a nephew Cooper Benzing.
A private family graveside service will be held in the coming weeks.
An informal celebration of life was held at the Aberdeen Elks Lodge on Monday, Jan. 2.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
